چکیده

We describe a new approach to constrain the amplitude of matter perturbations in the Universe using galaxy clusters. We combine the galaxy cluster X-ray luminosity function of the REFLEX survey with the mass– luminosity relationship obtained via gravitational lensing from a sample of galaxy clusters identified in Sloan Digital Sky Survey commissioning data and confirmed through cross-correlation with the ROSAT all-sky survey. We compare the resulting cluster mass function with the theoretical mass function of Jenkins et al. (2001) to determine the matter power spectrum normalization σ8 as a function of the matter density Ω0. We find σ8 = 0.38Ω −0.48+0.27Ω0 0 as the best fitting formula between σ8 and Ω0, which is significantly different from most previous relations between these two cosmological parameters derived from comparable calculations using the X-ray temperature function. We discuss possible sources of systematic error that may cause such a discrepancy, and in the process uncover a possible inconsistency between the REFLEX luminosity function and the relation between cluster X-ray luminosity and mass obtained by Reiprich & Böhringer (2001). Cosmological Constraints from Sdss Maxbcg Cluster Abundances

We perform a maximum likelihood analysis of the cluster abundance measured in the SDSS using the maxBCG cluster finding algorithm. Our analysis is aimed at constraining the power spectrum normalization σ8, and assumes flat cosmologies with a scale invariant spectrum, massless neutrinos, and CMB and supernova priors Ωmh 2 = 0.128 ± 0.01 and h = 0.72 ± 0.05 respectively. Following the method desc...

Weak Lensing as a Calibrator of the Cluster Mass-temperature Relation

The abundance of clusters at the present epoch and weak gravitational lensing shear both constrain roughly the same combination of the power spectrum normalization σ8 and matter energy density ΩM . The cluster constraint further depends on the normalization of the mass-temperature relation. Therefore, combining the weak lensing and cluster abundance data can be used to accurately calibrate the ...

The Galaxy Power Spectrum: Precision Cosmology from Large Scale Structure?

Published galaxy power spectra from the 2dFGRS and SDSS are not in good agreement. We revisit this issue by analyzing both the 2dFGRS and SDSS DR5 catalogues using essentially identical techniques. We confirm that the 2dFGRS exhibits relatively more large scale power than the SDSS, or, equivalently, SDSS has more small scale power. We demonstrate that this difference is due to the r-band select...

Cosmological parameter determination from Planck and SDSS data in Λ CHDM cosmologies

We study the complementarity between the cosmological information obtainable with the Planck surveyour and the large scale structure (LSS) redshift surveys in ΛCHDM cosmologies. We compute the initial full phase-space neutrino distribution function for ΛCHDM models by using numerical simulations. As initial condition we adopt the HDM density fluctuation power spectrum normalized on the basis of...

Large-scale Structure at the Turn of the Millennium‡

I review the current status of studies of the large–scale structure of the Universe using redshift surveys of galaxies and clusters of galaxies. I first summarise the advances we have made in our knowledge of the cosmography of the z < 0.2 Universe during the last 25 years, as well as the status of the major surveys in progress. The question of how the a priori selection of some classes of obje...
